About Onwords and UPwords
Somerslam was our annual slam poetry competition which ran for 3 years at Somerfest in partnership with Fuse performance and the Creative Innovation Centre.
We teamed up with TYCA (link) and BBC Radio Somerset in 2019 to create a series of opportunities for young writers across Somerset culminating in a number of showpiece events as part of TYCA festival.
We run a year-round mentoring and professional pathways project for young writers of poetry, rap, storytelling and stand-up comedy.
Young artists are supported by professional writers, musicians and videographers to create high quality video and live performance content and have the opportunity to showcase their work through a range of platforms.

Anyone under the age of 16 will need written permission from a parent or guardian to apply. If you have any access needs or anything which makes it difficult to be part of a project like this please do get in touch and we will do everything we can to help.
